Dear MASD Community,
We are writing to share two important changes to the district’s spring 2027 school calendar.
Spring break will move to April 5-9, 2027. The Mill A School District Board approved the change following a review of community feedback and calendar requirements.
Snow makeup days will move to April 1 and 2. These days will be school days only if needed to make up for snow-related school closures. Otherwise, students will have those days off. March 26 will be a regular school day. April 5 will now be the first day of spring break.

Each year, the district aims to align its spring break with neighboring districts to make scheduling easier for families and staff. After neighboring districts finalized their calendars, MASD’s originally scheduled spring break no longer aligned with theirs. This fall, the district gathered input from staff, families and community members and reviewed calendar and instructional requirements. A community survey found that most respondents preferred April 5-9.
We recognize that calendar changes affect families and staff differently, especially those who have already made plans based on the original spring break dates.
If this change creates a hardship for your family, please contact Superintendent/Principal Kelly Stickel at kelly.stickel@millasd.org. We will work with you to help your student stay on track academically and will provide flexibility for students who must be absent during the originally scheduled break, March 29-April 2.
